Injury Tiers

Injury System

The Injury System is a tiered list detailing different kinds of injuries your character can receive. There are many ways a character can become injured, and the more severe forms of injury may require you to detail a story of how they received that injury. The kinds of ways your character can become injured are numerous, so they should take care when traversing even everyday life.

Your character can receive injuries from ReQuests and Expeditions, the types of wildlife and monsters that your character will encounter during these outings will be listed with an injury tier. This is the maximum severity of injury that the creature can inflict.

Every available kind of magic spell is also listed with an injury tier. This is the maximum amount of injury that the spell can inflict. Some spells may even specify the type of damage that can be done. These kinds of injuries, of course, can be inflicted anywhere in the world, even within the safety of their own home! A character may become injured when practicing magic, if they cannot control it, or they may find themselves on the receiving end of someone else’s magic.

All weapons are capable of inflicting up to Tier 6 damage, on account of being weapons.

Tier #1: Scrapes and bumps

This tier allows you to give your character tiny scrapes and bumps. These are small and subtle injuries that may just be sore. They are not very visible.

Tier #2: Bruising

This tier allows you to give your character visible black and blue bruises. These blotches may form on their bodies and will be sore and tender to the touch.

Tier #3: Gashes, Deep Cuts & Heavy Bloodshed

This tier allows you to give your character gashes, cuts and the experience of moderate to heavy bloodshed. Draken and Nyulop naturally bleed red blood. Remember to mark violence and gore if it is included in your submissions!

Tier #4: Scarring

This tier allows you to give your character visible and permanent scarring. This can be anywhere on their bodies, including wings and broken horns/antlers.

A more detailed rule set is provided here.

Quick note!

Currently, children are not eligible
for injuries above Tier 4!

Tier #5: Potentially Fatal Wounds & Lost Limbs

This tier allows you to give your character visible and permanent scarring. This can be anywhere on their bodies, including wings and broken horns/antlers.

A more detailed rule set is provided here.

Tier #6: Fatality

This tier allows you to inflict damage so severe to your character it results in death. This extends to death by illnesses.

A more detailed rule set is provided here.

Tier #4 Rule Set:

Scars can only be inflicted upon characters that are at least 3 months old in real time. If you created them on June 1st, they cannot be scarred until September 1st.

You must leave at least one month of real time in between each scar inflicted on a character.

If you wish to inflict a scar on your character, you must draw a finished picture - shaded background, shaded figures - coupled with a story of at least 500 words detailing how it happened.

A scar may be a heavy injury of any kind that doesn’t permanently disfigure the character being scarred. They may not lose limbs or horns.

If a character’s horn is chipped, that counts as one scar.

Tattered wings count as one scar, and will not heal even with the help of magic.

One scar for the month may be a series of small gashes or one big gash. It may also be a burn scar, or one of many uglier variants of scarring.

A character may not receive a scar over their eye if it permanently damages their sight. They may not receive a scar if it permanently damages one of the five senses, or if it damages their magic sense.

Draken may not receive damage to their third eye gem on this tier. Nyulop may not receive damage to their whiskers on this tier.

You may never remove a scar, it is permanent!

Tier 4

Tier #5 Rule Set:

Tier 5 injuries may only be inflicted upon characters that are 6 months old in real time. If you created them on June 1st, they can not be permanently disfigured until December 1st.

You must have two months of real time in between each injury of this level. They may only be inflicted with permanently disfiguring near death injuries twice in their lifespan.

If the injury almost kills them, but does not disfigure them, you may inflict them with this kind of injury as many times as you want. You must leave at least two months of real time in between each injury.

If you wish to inflict a permanent disfiguration on your character, you must draw a finished picture - shaded background, shaded figures - coupled with a story of at least 750 words detailing how it happened.

An injury that permanently disfigures the character includes lost limbs, such as fingers, toes, arms, legs and wings. A broken horn also counts as permanent disfiguration.

In this tier of injury, your character may receive a scar that permanently damages one of their five senses. Permanent damage in both eyes counts as two permanent disfigurations.

Draken may receive damage to their third eye gem on this tier. Nyulop may receive damage to their whiskers on this tier. This will be explained in greater detail, and must be read before you go through with it!

Permanent disfigurations may never be removed or reversed. Consider the consequences of an injury of this magnitude before inflicting them upon your character.

Damage to the Third Eye Gem:

Chipping or cracking a Draken’s Third Eye Gem is a Tier 5 injury and is considered a permanent disfiguration. It will never fully heal, and your character will be permanently crippled should you choose to go through with it.

It takes a massive amount of magical energy to damage a Draken’s third eye gem, and they have never been physically broken.

If your character has any tiers in their skill tree above tier 3 when an injury of this magnitude is inflicted, they are to lose every skill above tier 3. When your Draken’s third eye gem is cracked or chipped, they cannot use magic as well as they could’ve when they were healthy.

If a dual element Draken’s third eye gem is chipped or cracked, they may not take any skills above tier 2 across both of their skill trees and lose any skills over tier 2 if they had any.

If a Draken’s third eye gem is completely shattered (which is impossible at this point in time), they die. If a Draken’s third eye gem is ripped out of their skull (which is impossible at this point in time), they die. A Draken cannot survive without their Third Eye Gem.

Damage to a Nyulop's Whiskers:

A minor rip/tear in a whisker is considered a Tier 3 injury. It has the potential to heal without leaving permanent damage to your Nyulop. Minor rips/tears should be small and more notch-like rather than a slender tear through the body of the whisker.

Damaging a whisker more than 50% is considered a Tier 5 injury and therefore permanent disfiguration. This means that, should your Nyulop's whisker(s) be torn in half and or entirely off it will not heal. The loss of a whisker will result in weakening the magical abilities of your Nyulop.

If your Nyulop loses three or more of their whiskers they will permanently lose their magical abilities. This means they will NOT be able to perform/learn magic.

Tier #6 Rule Set:

The ruleset for Death is currently being worked out. It will be released sometime in the future.

Tier 6 is death, as in, your character dies.

Tier 6 injuries may only be inflicted upon a character that is 9 months old in real time.

If your character is inflicted with a Tier 6 level injury, they will die. When a character dies, they cannot be brought back or reincarnated. This is not similar to simply deleting your character, for anyone that was good friends with your character or in some way involved with them will still remember them. The character that you created will still have some sort of lasting impact on the world, they will just be no longer able to impact it in any other way.

As of right now, death cannot be reversed. If your character dies, they stay dead. Death cannot be reversed.
