Part 1; Dane's Office:
Wendi:
after the despute with Marlo, whom is storming away from her, Wendi feels a little shaken up, but she has a serious, slightly exhausted look on her face
Mesa:
After hearing the whole argument that had been had (though not clearly enough to know what it was about), Mesa felt a bit concerned over the outcome of it. Just as she was about to enter the Dane's office to check on what was going on, she bumped into a figure that she didn't recognize.
"Sorry bout' that," she apologized after stepping aside from the figure.
Marlo:
"Get the fuck outta my way..." he mumbles under his breath as he slams the door open and walks out of the office
Mesa:
"Well fuck you too, buddy," Mesa retorts to the rude individual.
Marlo:
he continues walking, ignoring Mesa's comment and clearly in a very bad mood
Wendi:
glances down the hall from her room in the direction of the sound of the door slamming and then lowers her ears a little
Mesa:
Mesa just snorts as he walks away and goes into the room. She notices that there's another Draken in here, though this one looks worse for wear when compared to the one that had just stormed out.
"Everything okay in here?" she questioned as she walked fully into the room. She directed her question to the female Draken that looked as if she'd just been through hell itself. Hopefully it wasn't something that involved the rude Draken that had stormed out. Mesa had an idea however that it did...
Wendi:
"... Huh?" she looks at the tall, blue draken "O-oh. Yeah... Well it's.... It's complicated..." she looks away and twiddles her hair with her claw
Mesa:
Mesa let an ear drop a bit as she crossed her arms. "I could hear," Mesa commented. "Granted I couldn't really hear too much of what was being said, but I got the inflections enough to know that something went down..."
She crossed her arms and tilted her head a bit as she added on, "Sorry if I'm intruding or anything... but did it happen to involve the ass that I bumped into on the way in here? He certainly seemed the type to get in an argument?"
Wendi:
"Ah... I-I see..... Well... that was Marlo.... And well... He used to be my friend , or at least I thought he was. But he didn't treat me right... for the longest time I just simply put up with it... But with this incident that just happened.... He just... he went way too far. So... I had to make a decision..." she continues to behave nervously and avoid eye contact
Mesa:
Mesa went to pull a chair up so that she could sit down. So it was one of those types of relationships. Mesa had only ever heard about them, but never experienced them.
"He didn't hurt you or anything, didi he? I mean.. physically hurt you?" she then asked as her ears flattened backwards against her head. She felt for the Draken. She really did. She just hoped that her coming in like this wasn't going to be an issue. The last thing she wanted was to cause harm to someone regardless of how long they'd known each other.
Wendi:
"Well... He certainly tried to today.... but there was an instance where he ripped out my feathers, just because he thought they were stupid. And well... his ego... he thought it was okay to constantly push me around because I would put up with it.... But... that isn't what friends do, isn't it?" she lets out a nervous, yet sad laugh
Mesa:
There was an audible growl that came from deep within Mesa's throat. She wanted to burst out in exclamation as a response to the feather thing, but she knew that this Draken wasn't well enough mentally right now to handle such a response.
"Friends don't do that to one another..." she simply stated through a thick and heavy tone. She went to rub her face in response, groaning as she made a mental note to go after that bastard and give him a stern talking to. Maybe even a connection of her fist to his face.
She calmed herself down and removed her hand from her face, focusing strictly on the female Draken. "A friendship isn't something you take for granted like that. It's not something you abuse or soil with petty actions like ripping feathers off because you don't like them..." She sighed and went to rub the back of her head.
"Do you have any other friends that you could go to about this? Any at all that could... or rather... that would help you through the ordeal you've had to endure?"
Wendi:
"Well.... Not really... Marlo was pretty posessive, not really letting me interract much with others because he wanted to continue shoving me around.... I-I mean.... unless I can include Zeus. B-but that's more of a uhh.... d-different.. thing. " she blushes slightly and then after a second, she gets serious again.
"So um... Th-the answer to your question is technically 'no'..." she fidgets a little
Mesa:
"I hope I'm not too forward then but here," Mesa held out a hand for the other Draken to shake. "How bout I be your first one then? The name's Mesa!" she greeted with a hopefully infectious smile.
She wasn't ever going to forget what this Draken had told her. Nor was she going to forget what this Marlo character looked like. He was on her hit list as enemy number one. A Draken like that could be dangerous if left unchecked. She'd figure out a way to deal with him. That's for sure.
Wendi:
she smiles back with a gentle smile and shakes Mesa's hand "I'm Wendi... I'm a wind element and well... I do hope we can be friends, heh..." her smile is genuine, albeit a little nervous, but at the same time she's looking pretty hopeful
Mesa:
Mesa shakes the hand and with her gentle smile she said, "I'm a water Draken! I just got my gem in so I'm going to be learning how to do magic pretty soon!" She couldn't wait to blow some fucking bubbles!!
Mesa could sense that Wendi was nervous about this. She had every right to be in all honesty. After enduring the shit Marlo put her though, Mesa would actually be more concerned than anything if Wendi wasn't showing so apprehension towards this.
"You going to be okay, by the way?" she asked. She felt as if she knew the answer to this, but still she felt compelled to ask it of Wendi.
Wendi:
"Hmm? Oh um... I-I'm fine..." she said, clearly looking like she's holding back on speaking up, since that's what she's been used to doing
Mesa:
Taking her hand back, Mesa tilted her head at the way Wendi responded. She felt some worry for her new friend. "Not trying to pry but... you don't.... you don't really seem like you're fine?" she asked in concern.
"I really don't want to force you to speak or anything like that. I'm just a bit concerned is all. You don't have to hold anything back, you know. It's not healthy." She really didn't want to seem like she was forcing Wendi to speak. She just also didn't want the poor girl to think she had to keep everything in either.
Wendi:
"O-oh..... Um..... Sorry.... I've been having a pretty difficult time lately.... it's been a whole lot of stress..."
Mesa:
"You're free to talk about it if you want. I won't force you to hold anything back. But I also won't force you to speak about it if you'd rather not. Just know that with me, you're free to express yourself," Mesa explained. She went to reach out and place a hand on Wendi's shoulder, giving her yet another soft and warm smile.
"If you'd rather not talk, wanna do something instead? We could go fishing or just take a walk?"
Wendi:
she gives a gentle smile "Thanks, but.... I think I'd like to be by Zeus's side just a bit longer... He... well... he's going through an even tougher time right now..." she smiles sadly and her ears lower
Mesa:
"Zeus?" Mesa questioned. "Who's that?" Had this Marlo character gone and hurt two individuals?!
Wendi:
"He's um.... very special to me.... but the incident...." she takes a deep breath and calmly explains ".... There was an incident.... and in that.... it caused Zeus to lose the use of his arm.... permanently..." she looks sad and afraid while explaining the terrible news
Mesa:
She squinted her eyes a bit. "Was it because of this Marlo character you mentioned?" she asked in a calm but pointed tone of voice. Good lord if it was all because of that jerk she would make it her job to deck him right in the nose. HARD.
Wendi:
...... she hesitates for a bit and then slowly nods "He uh.... attracted a Greater Thuddley here and...." she sighs and has a pained look on her face
Mesa:
"Nothing more needs to be said. I get the picture." Mesa leaned back in the chair she was sitting in and folded har arms together. She left out a stiff sigh as she shook her head slowly back and forth.
"Seems that Draken needs to be put in his place. Far be it from me to do it though," she said. She opened her eyes and looked at Wendi, "But I'll do it if it means I can protect you and Zeus. You two have dealt with enough as it is."
A second sigh escaped Mesa's maw as she looked to the ground. "I know I'm just inserting myself into your problems like this... but I can't bring myself to just sit by while someone such as him goes around without supervision. He could bring harm to others... But it's ultimately up to you, Wendi. I'll help try to keep Marlo in line if you want, so that you and Zeus don't have to bother as much or worry as much about him."
She was very serious when she made this offer. She wanted to help out these two Draken so badly. However she could, she would.
Wendi:
"..... I.... also worry about Marlo's destructive behavior.... I don't doubt that he'll seriously hurt someone if he is left unchecked..... especially.... in his current mind state...." her ears lower and she looks a little scared and worried
Mesa:
"Then I'll have to keep an extra close eye on him. The last thing we need is more Draken or Nyulop getting injured because of his reckless behavior." She knew that she was just inserting herself, but she didn't care at this point. This Marlo guy was trouble if what Wendi said was actually true.
"I'll give you my word that no further harm like what Zeus has gone through will happen under my watch. I've faced off against some of the roughest and toughest Remnants possible and I came out pretty unscathed! This Marlo character won't know what hit him!" Literally. Mesa was literally going to hit him.
"You know where he might be going? Would be good to have an idea as to where he hangs out so I can help precent any more unwarranted harm...." She was so angry at this guy. Just so, so angry.
Wendi:
"Well I uh.... Don't know what he's doing for certain but...... usually when he's really angry like this... he goes out to the woods, just at the outskirts of town..... I've seen blasts of lightning shoot from there a couple of times on clear days..."
Mesa:
With a smile towards Wendi, Mesa went to stand up from her chair. She placed a hand atop Wendi's shoulder again and gave her a stern and proud look. "Don't you worry, Wendi. I'll take care of Marlo. Maybe later you, Zeus, and I could have a picnic or something? I have two pets that would love to say hello to you guys!" she offered with a happy chuckle.
"It could be a good change of pace from all the dread that's been going on. Only when you both are ready for it though!"
Wendi:
Wendi smiles ... "Yeah.... I would like that"
Mesa:
With a happy nod, Mesa went to leave the Danes Office and head out in search of Marlo.
Part 2; The Outskirts:
Marlo:
leaning with his arm against a tree breathing very heavily, the rage in him is intensifying to primal levels, then all of a sudden, he rips the bandages off his chest and throws them hard to the ground, littering the forest floor with slightly bloodied bandages and then he punches the tree he was leaning on
Mesa:
"So this is where you stormed off to," spoke Mesa as she walked in on Marlo's little bandage tantrum. She crossed her arms together and leaned against one leg, her tail swishing left and right showing clear agitation. She had to be cautious with how she approached this situation.
"The name's Mesa. You so rudely walked past me when we bumped into one another in the Dane's Office." She wanted to just slug him right then and there. She really and truly did. Only problem was that if she did do that, it wouldn't really lead to anything but a fight, and that's not exactly why she was here.
Marlo:
Marlo glares at her, clearly fuming and not in a stable state, his anger is consuming him and making him unable to act like just his usual jackass self. His injury that was revealed after he tore the bandages clearly isn't healed yet and begins to open a little as he clenches his fists tightly, pulls his arm back, and prepares to attack
Mesa:
"So it's gonna be like this, is it?" Mesa growls as she prepares a fist of her own. She saw that he wound was opening up more from his movements, so she planned on trying to keep this fight short. The last thing she wanted was to be the one to rip open already fresh and still bleeding wounds only to make them even worse.
"Come at me," she told him with a motion of her claws. She took to a defensive stance and prepared for him to approach. If she could, she'd just dodge and push him rather than try to cause deep wounds.
"I'm ready for you."
Marlo:
he runs at her with sloppy, erratic movements, clearly nothing like a seasoned fighter would do, his gem begins to glow and he throws a fist at her that is charged with electricity
Mesa:
Mesa dodged the move but not without a hit of the electricity scraping against her arm as she did so. She slid to a stop and glared in Marlo's direction. She couldn't hit the spot with his fresh wounds. With a rush forward, she went in to punch the back of his shoulder. Unlike Marlo, she wasn't in tune with her magic yet. This was going to be an interesting fight to say the least.
Marlo:
he pants heavily like some sort of deranged animal, his gem starts to glow brighter and electricity starts pouring out of his body like a sort of barrier around him, at this rate, Marlo would most likely wear himself out due to using too much mana. He then lunges at Mesa once again with even sloppier movements
Mesa:
Dodging this lad was rather easy for Mesa. That sloppy movement of his was riddled with tells and signs of how he was going to move next. If he was going to focus on his mana, then she'd have to give him a bit of a wide berth.
"You need to calm yourself down!" she called out to him before going in for another punch to a part of his body that wasn't near the wounds. "You're going to have burnout if you keep going like you are!" Or at least however close to what the Remnants were able to do.
Marlo:
he lets out a frustrated scream and then runs at Mesa yet again, this time he runs as if he's completely unaware of his surroundings and he ends up tripping on a rock the size of a football and crashing into Mesa, shocking her quite a bit as they fall to the ground, looks like he's begun to exhaust his mana energy and he's tired himself out. the electicity weakens to only a tingle
Mesa:
The shock that hit her was enough to make her body feel all awkward and tingly from the traveling voltage. Thankfully it wasn't so much that she couldn't handle it or couldn't just bounce right back from it. She went to grab onto Marlo's shoulders so that she could flip him around and get him into a very light choke hold. She had to do something to get him to come back to reality from this rage he was currently going through.
Marlo:
Marlo resisted a little from the choke hold, but he was already weak and growing limp as the used up mana exhausts his movements. A few seconds later he slowly passes out. His body starting to heat up from a mana burn fever and his wounds bleeding a little from a few of his stitches opening
Mesa:
Mesa honestly just rolled her eyes as soon as Marlo passed out. Of course he would do that. Of fucking course he'd just pass right out leaving her with his body to drag off to who knows where in order for him to get some help. It not like she really knew how to suture wounds or anything. Best she could do was to clean it. Carefully she pulled the limp body atop her back. Once he was secure and in place, she began to head off towards wherever. The farm was nearby so perhaps there? Was better than nothing.
Part 3; Remy's Farm:
Marlo:
Marlo wakes up sometime later in an area he doesn't quite recognize at first, mostly because his vision is slightly blurry and he's dizzy for some reason that he doesn't remember ".... Nnngh... What...... what happened..." he begins to lift his head and tries to lift himself up with his elbows
Mesa:
"You attacked me in the forest, you numbskull. That's what happened," Replied Mesa as she rung a towel out over a bowl of water. She walked back over to Marlo and went to place the cloth overtop his forehead. It was cool to the touch and should have felt good to the mana exhausted Draken.
"I merely wanted to talk with you and you decided that fists were going to be our form of communication. You burnt out your mana reserves and collapsed in the forest like a dunderhead. I dragged your ass here and got use of Remy's home so that I could bring your fever down and try to clean up your reopening wounds. Any of this sound familiar?" she asked as she put her hands to her sides after letting the cloth sit perfectly on Marlo's forehead.
Marlo:
he squints and has a look of confusion on his face "Um... No...? I don't... Last thing I remember was me walking out of the clinic after.... that..." he furrows his brows and has a look of diappointed anger on his face as he remembers the fight with Wendi
Mesa:
"Oh yeah, I know a bit about that," Mesa starts as she sits down on the table neck to the couch that Marlo is laying on.
"I've spoken to Wendi and she told me a fair bit about what all went on. Nothing too detailed or intrusive, but enough to get me angry at you. However as mad as I am, I can't just let you bleed out. So we're here, and you're resting, whether you want to or not. " She rested her arms on her legs and stared Marlo down, a brow raising as she took in the actual wounds that Marlo was plagued with.
"Greater Thuddley cuts. Those things are dangerous to mess with. I can only imagine how bad it must have hurt getting that, huh?" she examined.
Marlo:
he scoffs "Feh, it only got the surface.... nowhere near my vitals. These were nothing" he gestures at his scars and gives Mesa a smartass, rude look "... Who the hell are you again?"
Mesa:
"Scratched the surface my ass. Those are going to leave permanent wounds on your chest and you're never going to be able to be rid of them. I know wounds. I've gotten wounds. You sir, you have scars." Mesa practically snorted out the response in a huff or agitation. The nerve of this guy trying to pretend like his wounds were nothing.
"The name's Mesa. I'm a water Draken and I pretty much kicked your ass when we fought. Well... I did have help. You tripped on a rock and face planted straight into the dirt. HAH. Anyways... don't move. I gotta get another cloth to ruin on your bloody chest," she said as she got up and fetched another cloth, soaking it completely before ringing it out again.
Marlo:
"Ugh... Don't bother... I feel fiiii--UGH..." he feels a wave of dizziness come over him while he tries to sit up, forcing him to lay back down
Mesa:
Mesa turned around and raiseda brow at Marlo. "Oh yeah. You're perfectly fine, a-okay, hunkydory." She walked back over to him and knelt down. "This might sting." She gently placed the cloth over his wound and began to press down on it gently to absorb the excess blood.
"I know you're some kind of tough guy, but don't for a second think I'm going to fall for it. You're no stronger than me or any other Draken around here." She took a moment to let the air just sit. "You hurt her you know. Like a lot," she added softy as she tenderly cared for the wound.
Marlo:
he sucks air through his clenched teeth and clenches his fists as Mesa treats his reopened wounds "Whatever... She's just acting like a child right now... She'll want me back once her boy toy disposes of her..." then under his breath "i WILL have her back..." he turns to his side, away from Mesa
Mesa:
"Excuse you?" growled Mesa. She pulled Marlo back so that he could look at her and stood up. She lifted a leg and then placed it down atop his wound, pressing with some force as she growled out her response, "Wendi isn't some THING that you can own. You really fucking hurt her as WELL as Zeus and trust me when I tell you this... Unless you fucking change how you view her and act around her, she's NEVER coming back to you!"
She pulled her foot off of the wounded spot on Marlo's chest and growled yet again. "You have one of the most disgusting personalities I think I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing. And I'v faced three of the strongest and most dangerous Remnants that recently attacked us! THOSE were better mannered than you are!"
Marlo:
"Ugh!!" he reels and huffs from Mesa pressing on his wounds and then glares at her with a low growl "Hmph..... big talk..." he mumbles under his breath while placing his hand on his tender chest
Mesa:
"Big talk maybe, but it's true." She went to sit down on the table again and grit her teeth. "You fucked yup royally, Marlo. You had a friend and you abused her. You harmed her in more than one way and I don't even dare ask her how else you've harmed her." She went to stand up so she could pace around the couch.
"You ripped feathers from her wing simply because you didn't like them! What if someone did that to you?" She was on the back side of the couch. Turning quickly so she was leaning against it, she took one of her wings and grabbed one of Marlo's. She pulled on it so as to outstretch it.
"What would you do if I wanted to rip a hole in your membrane?! How would that make you feel!? Would you feel good if I succeeded in it?!" she asked with a hiss.
Marlo:
"Let GO of me!" he tugs his wing away and swats at her with the back of his hand
Mesa:
She went to grab the arm and held onto tightly. She didn't let go of the wing either, gripping it even tighter than she was prior. "Answer me, Marlo! How would it make you feel!? How would you feel if I ripped a hole in your wing and permanently grounded you!? Because you could have done that to Wendi! You could have grounded her permanently by ripping out feathers like you did!"
She then let his arm and wing go, glaring him down as she waited. "Tell me how you'd feel. Because I want to know just how stupid or how smart you truly are." She was calmer now, her voice a dulcet calm as she allowed herself to breath out the anger she was feeling.
Marlo:
"Wh.... why is it any business to YOU? ... It's not like you actually know us... You're just a spectator who's biased on one side of the story...." he feels another wave or dizziness wash over him and he rolls his head away from her
Mesa:
"Because maybe I want to help the both of you. I just became friends with Wendi and she's such a nice girl. Shy, but still very nice. She's hurt by this and I want to make sure she has reason to believe that she won't be hurt again. And hey, if I can help you in the process as well, then more power to me."
Mesa went to walk over to the other side of the couch again so she could once more sit down on he table that was in front of it. She sighed as she went to rub the back of her head.
"Tell me your side then. Why would you treat her in such a terrible way? And don't go giving me the excuse that you were trying to toughen her up. Do that and you'll get a fist to the side of your face."
Marlo:
"....." he clenches his mouth shut, furrows his brows darts his eyes to the side like Mesa's comment was exactly what he was about to say.
Mesa:
Mesa squinted her eyes at Marlo, her tail twitching at its tip as she growled out, "You really are some kind of stupid, aren't ya'?" She hoped he wouldn't answer that, as it was a rhetorical question. Shaking her head, she let out a deep sigh.
"You don't go injuring the people you want to make stronger. You know what that does? It just makes them suffer. What if I did that to your wings, huh? Would injuring you make you stronger?" She then looked at the wounds on his chest. "How about that? Did receiving that make you stronger? Do you feel like you've grown in your ability to handle getting hurt again in the same way?"
Marlo:
"Hey man, if they get hurt on my watch, that just means they were weak. They weren't strong enough to fight back, unlike me. I got these scars right here and can STILL get up and fight." he shrugs his shoulders and then casually pulls his arms back behind his head, showing not a care in the world
Mesa
With quick motion, Mesa took her tail and smacked Marlo straight across the face. She glared at him, her teeth gritting as she let out a low growl.
"Trust me when I tell you that between you and Zeus, Zeus is far stronger than you are. Between you and Wendi, Wendi is far kinder, smarter, and all around a better finley than you'll ever amount to in your sad little pathetic life." She stood up and took the cloth that was still on Marlo's chest off so that she could check the wounds.
"They aren't bleeding as badly as before," she sighed as she turned around and place the towel on a pile of more dirty, soiled, and bloody towels. "I'm gonna owe Remy so many towels after this," she groaned. She then turned around and crossed her arms as she looked Marlo over.
"You're going to need new stitches on those wounds. And yes, I'm sticking with you while it happens. I don't trust you on your own."
Marlo:
"ACKKK! MUNE DAMMIT!!" he reels from the big, honkin' slap Mesa gave him "THAT FUCKIN HURT!!--wUAAH!" he swiftly sat up and then his hand slips from the couch, making him roll onto the floor
Mesa:
With a squint of her eyes, Mesa responded with, "I'm only trying to make you stronger."
Marlo:
he squints back at her and sees her foot in his sight now that he has access to it, being on the floor now. he then swiftly grabs the furthest one it and yanks it aside, making her legs collide with each other slip as a little mini revenge for her slapping him
Mesa:
She fell to the ground just as Marlo was aiming to do and hit her arm against the side of the table. It stung, but only for a moment. Her glare turned to daggers just then as she sat up.
"Oh, you wanna go, bro!? You wanna go?! Yeah? Alright! Let's fuckin' do this!!" she shouted at him as she quickly went to stand up. She grabbed him by the tail and began to drag him towards the door of the house.
"Yeah we can go! Let's open up those wounds some more and cause you more blood loss, yeah?! We can scrap! I've faced three of the most dangerous Remnants out there and I made it out with barely even a scratch on me! You think I can't handle your pathetic little ass, boyo?! Let's fucking do this!!"
Marlo:
"ACK!!" he feels his wounds and head throb as Mesa shouts and drags him away "OKAY, OKAY!! STOP!!.... I give up!! UNCLE!!" he slams his hand on the ground a few times like he's tapping out
Mesa:
Mesa turned to look behind her and said, "Awe but I thought you wanted this? You seemed very eager to scuffle just then when you knocked me down?" She dropped his tail and turned around to fully face him, folding her arms together as she let out a snort. "So do you get what I'm trying to explain to you?"
Marlo:
Marlo just glares at her and slowly tries to pick himself up from the ground with his dizziness and wobbly arms. He only manages to pick himself up to a sitting position and he pouts, having an angry frown on his face, nothing he would say would sound genuine in any way, so he just keeps his mouth shut
Mesa:
Sighing, Mesa went to sit down on the floor in front of him. She rested her arms atop her legs and threw her ears back.
"Look. I just want to help you, Wendi, and Zeus. I know I'm new to the situation, but I want to protect those that I consider friends, and help those out that I feel need it. And trust me... you need it. I can't ever promise you that Wendi will return to you as a friend given what you've done, but I can help you learn how to be a better finley. A better you. Then you can make more friends and you wouldn't be so dependent on the one. Sound good to you?" she asked him.
Marlo:
"...... Fine, whatever.... I'd like to see you try, but..... I don't really feel like there's much to change about me." with that last egotistical comment, he slowly pulls himself onto his feet and stands up with a bit of a wobble, knowing that he can't fight back to Mesa in his current state, he starts walking along with dragging feet
Mesa:
Standing up quickly, Mesa went to grab one of Marlo's arms to put around her shoulder while her right wing acted as a support from behind.
"Here. This way you won't fall," she said to him. There was a moment of silence before she added on, "And there's plenty to change. You're not set in stone on how you act. Normally I wouldn't force things onto finley like this, but you're walking a very fine line right now. If you want Wendi to even consider taking you back as a friend, you're going to have to change... And like I said before, I can help you with that."
Marlo:
there was a long silence before Marlo spoke again "..... There is a first aid kit over in my house.... I need some more bandages..." it's almost as if he's ignoring the subject, but in his face, he's looking avoidant to change, like he just doesn't wanna let go for whatever reason
Mesa:
Mesa gives a nod as helps Marlo out of the farm house. "Thanks for the use of your house, Remy! I'll get you new towels in a few days!" she shouted back over her other shoulder so that Remy knew they were heading out. She then took her attention back over to Marlo and said to him, "Lead the way."
Marlo:
sighs annoyingly and then starts making his way to his home in the Summer Sun house
Part 4; Summer Sun:
Marlo:
Marlo, with the help of Mesa, slowly make their way to his room, the mana burn making the area spin around him while he walks. He then pulls out his key that was tucked in the nape of his neck, held by his bandanna, and with a wobbly hand, he inserts the key and unlocks the door to his room. It's very dark in there since nighttime was drawing near, but the inside of the room from what Mesa can see looked very empty and plain, like he doesn't spend a whole lot of time in there
Mesa:
Mesa guided Marlo over towards his bed. She helped him sit down on it, allowing his arm to slide off her neck while her wings acted as a second pair of arms to further help keep him stabilized.
"Where are the bandages?" she asked him as she fully let go.
Marlo:
he lights the oil lamp by his bedside to illuminate the room "Biggest drawer in the desk..." he says begrudgingly while placing his key onto the end table by the lamp
Mesa:
Mesa opens it up and shuffles around a bit for it. It doesn't take her very long to find them, as the drawer was rather barren and empty as well.
"Here we go," she says as she picks it up. She closed the drawer and turned around. She walked back to Marlo and began unraveling the bandages. "Can you do this yourself or would you like I help out with it?" she asked him.
Marlo:
"I can do it..." Marlo says quickly, like he's too stubborn to accept help from some gal who he just met and already tried to beat him up, twice.
He then attempts the wrap the bandages around himself sloppily, and unable to really reach his back, especially with those big wings in the way, to be able to wrap himself like Dane did before
Mesa:
Mesa watched him try to stubbornly wrap up his own wounds. She had her arms crossed and a smirk on her face as she watched the poor soul struggle to get around those big wings of his. When he seemed to be at a point where he couldn't do it anymore, she pulled out a hand and held it out to him.
"Want some help?" she asked, amused by the situation.
Marlo:
he looks at her with a grumpy, stubborn look and then he lets out a sigh and then caves to the offer of help with a pout "Fine.... but only because I can't reach between my wings...." he extends his leg and pulls over a stool on the other side of the end table and then sits on it
Mesa:
"Do you have to be so pouty with everything?" she chuckled. She went to take the bandages and began to wrap them around his wound, making sure to be careful so that they weren't too tight against him.
Marlo:
Marlo grumbles quietly under his breath and holds still while Mesa wraps his wounds
Mesa:
It didn't take too long for Mesa to finish. "Done," she stated while putting her hands against her hips. "You're welcome, by. the way," she added.
Marlo:
"Whatever....... Alright well if that's all you wanted to do, then you can be on your way now... Door's over there." he nudges his head over to direction of the door. He seems quick to try and get rid of her.
Mesa:
She squinted in his direction. He seemed so quick to get rid of her. Granted... she honestly couldn't blame him. She was pretty much invading his life at this point. Still, she was worried that he'd do something after she left.
"You better stay in and rest. Last thing you would want is for those wounds to not heal properly," she explained. She figured that he may already know about this, but it was still something she felt she had to mention.
"Can I count on you doing that?"
Marlo:
"Sure, whatever...." he's acting dismissive and aloof like he's planning something, but to try and cover it up, he casually lays on his bed with his arms behind his head
Mesa:
She flattened her ears back as he seemed to become aloof towards her. She'd been pretty abrasive and upfront with how she was treating him that she never really did just sit down to let him talk. With a heavy sigh, she asked him, "Are you going to be okay?"
Marlo:
he sighs annoyingly
".... Well no. First Wendi says all that shit to me this morning, claiming she's 'done' with me, then you claim that we fought in the woods, then you try to beat me up and threaten me when I wake up.... So no. No I'm NOT alright"
he crosses his arms and rolls onto his side to turn away from Mesa
Mesa:
She sighed a bit and rubbed the back of her head. "Alright the fighting part from me in that house could have been avoided. However what you said really peeved me off. You can't just talk about someone like that no matter who or what you are." She then took a moment and thought about the rest of what Marlo had said.
"Did you ever try to think there was a reason Wendi said what she did? Not trying to repeat myself or anything, but finley don't normally say things to the extent that Wendi did if there wasn't some truths behind it. As for the fight in the outskirts, yeah that did happen. You did manage to singe me with some of your electricity. See?" she noted as she showed her arm and then part of her whiskers that were still a darkened color from the attack.
"Electricity power yeah? Kinda jealous. My water magic can't do anything like that."
Marlo:
he glances back at her to see her singe marks and then he tilts his head "..... I've.... never been able to produce more than a static shock.... how did I....." he has a confused look on his face
Mesa:
"You were in a pretty big rage when I found you. You didn't say anything and instead just attacked me head on with no holding back or anything!" She sounded pretty excited about it to be honest. Fighting was something she loved to do after all, and despite the danger that the fight presented when it was happening, she couldn't help but smile when thinking back on it.
"How far are you in your magic training? I haven't even started mine yet. All I can do is shoot a jet of water from my mouth and even then it's a bit tricky since my gem only just came in." She wasn't going to let this sudden interest cloud her judgement on just what kind of character Marlo truly is. It was just a welcome little side conversation for the moment.
Marlo:
"Uh... Well I've just kinda started, too.... But I go to the woods to practice every now and then to practice....... or sometimes it just comes out when someone pisses me off..... like that one guy..." he rests his hands on his chest and stares up at the ceiling while laying on his bed
Mesa:
"That one guy?" she asked curiously. Maybe she could get into the reasoning behind why Marlo was such an asshole? Maybe this guy had something to do with it?
Marlo:
"The bastard that stole my bandanna that one time... the little shit had it coming.... now thanks to him, my bandana got torn" he huffs and looks annoyed
Mesa:
"Well I'm sorry to hear that. It's never fun when something you care about gets ruined or something," she shrugged. "Do you know who it is? You try telling hem to like... I dunno... to fuck off or something?" she then asked.
Marlo:
he smirks kind of a twisted, confident smile
"Oh even better... He begged me not to hurt him again since our fight got interrupted, so now I'm kinda the boss of him. He has to do whatever I say..."
Mesa:
"... Dude that's kinda fucked up," answered Mesa in a deadpan voice that gave away literally everything about how she felt given the situation presented to her. "Why the fuck are you tormenting the poor finley? Just like... I dunno... tell him to literally just fuck off and never bother you again?"
Marlo:
"Hey man, he was the one who came up to ME and told me he owes me. Anything at all. It's not like I forced him, he's the one who offered" he rolls his eyes and continues to give Mesa the sass
Mesa:
"Still that doesn't mean that you just... make him do whatever you want for the rest of his life. Especially if he thinks you're going to just hurt him again or something like that down the line..." she sighed. God Marlo was just... a lot. He really was a lot.
"Do you even know the kids name? Or is he just a little shit head to you?" she asked. Man why was delving into Marlo's past just turning up more and more turds?
Marlo:
"His name is I think.... Avalon. But I just call him a little dipshit." he shrugs and looks unphased by his own twisted behavior "... And you're one to talk. Picking fights on someone you barely know for no reason..."
Mesa:
"Touche. Though the first fight you instigated yourself." She tried thinking about the name Avalon, wondering if she'd ever met anyone like that before. She just shrugged it off when she couldn't put the name to a face and said in response, "I'm friends with Wendi so I had a reason to be pissed off at you. Hell, I still DO have a reason. I just wish you could actually see why what you did and are currently doing is wrong!" she complained.
She pulled her hand to her face and rubbed the bridge of her nose between her eyes. This guy was as stubborn as she could be!! "Is there literally no way to get you to see that?" she complained mostly with a rhetorical statement. If Marlo wanted to answer then he could. Knowing him... he honestly may just do that.
Marlo:
Marlo looks at Mesa with a bewildered expression, like he doesn't believe that the horrible feats that he's done are bad ".... What are you even talking about?" he raises one eyebrow
Mesa:
She was taken aback for a minute, unable to really respond. It was but thirty seconds later or so that she just face palmed and rubbed her face in her hand.
"Oh my god... I see that there's going to be a long road ahead if I want to try and really get you to understand..." she sighed through partially gritted teeth. She pulled her hand down her face until there was no more face left for it to touch, sighing all the while.
"Look... You gotta start trying to think of others in a better light than you currently do. All the pain and stuff that happens to you is stuff that happens to them. I want to help you, Marlo."
Marlo:
a long silence passes before Marlo just lets out a low grunt
Mesa:
"Look... want to be acquaintances? I can try to help you improve in how you act so that MAYBE, just MAYBE you stand a chance at getting your friend back? I can't make you any promises because I'm not Wendi, but I would like to at least try to help you two... and Zeus as well... possibly try to make relations between the three of you easier?" she asked.
"Granted I would also need to talk to them about it as well. I'm not going to just start something that one side just doesn't want to do..." she added on as if inquiring to herself on the subject.
Marlo:
he's silent for a bit and then he sighs "..... Fine. I'm in no condition to say 'no' anyway..... Fuckin' persistent..." he slowly picks himself up into a sitting position
Mesa:
"Persistence can be a virtue you know," she chuckled a bit. At least he was willing to try. That much was certain. Now all she had to do was talk to Wendi and Zeus to get their opinion on this plan of hers.
